Wedding Videographer in Edinburgh & Across Scotland

I’m Matt Crofts, a wedding videographer based in East Lothian, Scotland, filming natural, documentary-style wedding films across Edinburgh, Scotland and the UK. I create honest, unobtrusive wedding films that capture your day exactly as it happens, real moments, real emotion, no staging or direction. When you book me, you work directly with me from first enquiry through to final delivery.

Documentary Wedding Films Across Scotland

My approach is simple: I document your wedding as it naturally unfolds. I don’t direct your day or interrupt moments. Instead, I quietly observe and capture real emotion, atmosphere, and the small details you might otherwise miss. The result is a wedding film that feels natural, emotional, and true to your day, not a performance.

Experience & Background

I created Next Scene Films in 2008 in Sheffield, where I was born & grew up. After university I originally produced promotional films for organisations including Sheffield International Venues, Sheffield Hallam University and the NHS. In 2012, I began filming weddings, starting with friends’ weddings and after realising that I enjoyed being part of the wedding day I quickly moved fully into wedding filmmaking.

Since then, I’ve filmed over 160 weddings across Scotland and the UK. Wedding filmmaking became the core focus of my work in 2017 and has shaped everything I do since.

🎬 Full filming + editing handled personally by me. Couples often tell me they barely noticed the camera on the day, yet feel like they can relive it fully afterwards. This is always what I am aiming for.

Wedding Venues I’ve Filmed At

I’ve filmed weddings at venues across Scotland, include castles, estates and city venues such as: Carberry Tower, Dundas Castle, Melville Castle, Dalhousie Castle, The Signet Library, The Caves, Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh, and many more.

Sustainability & Values

For every wedding I film, I plant 5 trees via the World Land Trust. Over the years, I’ve also supported environmental charities and donated over £4,500 as part of my commitment to reducing impact where possible. Sustainability influences how I run the business, from suppliers to everyday decisions.
